Automatic leak protection for your whole home.
Capstone installs the DROP Home Protection Valve — an all-inclusive smart leak-protection system that mounts on your main water line. It monitors pressure, flow and temperature, and automatically shuts off your water the moment it detects a problem. Or you can shut it off yourself from the DROP app, anywhere.
It's the difference between coming home to a small problem and coming home to a flooded house. Below is what the system does, how the pieces fit together, and why a proper install is what makes it reliable.
Why whole-home leak protection matters
Water damage is one of the most expensive — and most preventable — disasters a home can face. Unlike a fire or a storm, a leak usually gives no warning: a supply line lets go behind a wall, a toilet runs for days, a water heater weeps onto the floor. The sooner the water stops, the smaller the repair.
- Costly water damage. A burst line can put hundreds of gallons through drywall, flooring and cabinetry in an afternoon — the kind of claim that reshapes an insurance premium.
- Silent leaks add up. A small drip or a running toilet quietly wastes thousands of gallons, and you pay for every one on the water bill.
- Protection while you're away. For a second or seasonal home, a leak can flood the house for weeks before anyone knows it happened.
- Hard-water North Valley homes. Our mineral-heavy water is tough on fixtures and supply lines, so the fittings and valves that fail are working under extra strain here.
What the DROP Home Protection Valve does
The valve isn't just an on/off switch — it's a sensor package on your main line. A built-in flow meter and pressure sensors catch a broad range of problems, from continuous flow and a leaky toilet down to a very small faucet leak that you'd never hear.
When the valve — or a paired leak detector — senses a leak or a freezing temperature, it shuts the water off. It also includes backflow prevention with a built-in check valve, a manual bypass so you're never locked out of your own water, and a 9V battery backup so it keeps working through a power outage.
The full DROP system
Leak protection works best as a system, not a single part. The DROP pieces talk to each other, so the whole home is covered instead of just the main line:
- Home Protection Valve. The smart shutoff that mounts on your main — the flow meter, pressure sensors and motorized valve in one unit.
- DROP Hub. Required. It ties the whole system together and connects it to your Wi-Fi and the app.
- DROP Leak Detectors. Place them under sinks and dishwashers, behind toilets and washing machines, and near the water heater — anywhere water could leak or collect. They detect both leaks and freezing.
- DROP Remote (optional). A one-button shutoff and status device you can keep somewhere handy.
The D-HPS-K1 kit is a common starting point — it includes the valve, a hub, and 2 leak detectors, and you can add more detectors for the spots that matter in your home.
Control and monitor from your phone
The DROP app is where the system earns its keep day to day. You can watch your water usage and shut off your water from anywhere, and the system sends text, email and push alerts about leaks, pressure and other vital system info — plus data that helps you understand and conserve your water.
Perfect for a home you leave behind.
If you have a second home, a seasonal place or a snowbird property that sits empty for months, automatic shutoff is the feature that matters most. A leak that starts the day after you fly out never becomes a flood — the system stops the water and tells you, so you can call us instead of coming home to ruined floors.
Why have Capstone install it
The hardware is only as good as the install. We mount and commission the valve on your main line, size and test it for your home, pair the hub and leak detectors so they report reliably, and walk you through the app before we leave. Proper installation is what turns a smart valve into protection you can trust.

We recommend leak protection honestly, as one part of whole-home water care alongside softeners and pressure regulation — not as a scare-tactic upsell. If it's a good fit for how you live and travel, we'll tell you; if it isn't, we'll tell you that too. Capstone is licensed, bonded and insured under AZ ROC #349088.
